Trusting your Stock Market Platform

September 5th, 2010 1 comment

My need to muster some good coin got lodged very earlier in my working career. This it not to say that I’m a devout capitalist, but rather a bloke who doesn’t see the lifetime value in slugging 50+ hours every week as a keyboard desk jockey – software engineer – just for a wage to pay the rent.

As you age – finger wear and tear – the realization that the extra wage dollar collected overtime will not improve the quality of life. Hell yeah, the extra coin falls definitely short of providing a real life under the sun instead of fluorescent lights ;-) .

To grow the investment, the usual candidates are business, property and stock market. Of the options, I selected the stock market for its mind numbing potential returns of 100…1000+ percent.

With this decision, I selected the Sonray Capital Markets trading platform.

The decisions to buy stocks / CFD / FOREX positions was based on somewhat conservative trending combined with some Fibonacci to determine entry and exit price points.

Using this the trading strategy worked really on the integrated Sonray Trader platform. As expected there were some losses but the overall value of all positions almost doubled the initial investment over the 18 month trading time frame.

The thought that the extra coin investment was growing larger and larger sweetened the day’s activities of boredom and frustration of banging the keyboard for the jerk head boss.

Well everything hit the deck on the 26 June 2010 when I got a call from the Share Market College that Sonray was placed under administration.

The Sonray trading platform effectively disabled / frozen ;-(.

Both short and long positions closed !!!

The initial information email mentioned that 3000 clients are affected because a couple million dollar shortfall. After the administrators email, the couple million was now about $46 million and 4000 clients.

Anyway things keep going down – $46 -> $70+ … ;-(.

Return now a couple cents in dollar estimate ;-(

Should I have researched not just the stocks but also my trading market platform?
